I ventured into Marda panettone today. Mine have candied raspberries, dried cherries, raisins and home candied orange peel, Nielson-Massey vanilla, lemon extract, and cointreau. They smell like Heaven.

Israel got stung by a bee. After the traumatic removal of the singer, I gave him a sample roll. Caroline went promptly outside and stuck herself with a rose thorn.

For Aaron's birthday I promised him a visit to Martins West, a new gastropub in Redwood City. Said visit, I am happy to report, occured yesterday afternoon. Seeing as the Food Section was on offal this week, Aaron went straight for the pig trotters. I had a pasty. Other fun things like pheasant rillets, duck sausage, haggis, and "bubble and squeak" were on the menu (for our next visit). We also had pints of Heppenton Farmhouse Ale, the first time I've encountered a trappist ale on tap. It almost made one want to live in Redwood City.
